COLLABORATORS

In the Relationships and Physiology lab at Ohio University, our main methodological focus is running 2-3 hour, in-lab, dyadic psychophysiology studies. As part of these studies, we collect quite a bit of data on how people are thinking and feeling about themselves, their relationships, the conversations they have in the lab, etc. In addition, we video record and take cardiovascular physiological measures during key moments in the study. If you are interested in studying social interactions, physiology, stress, and emotion, we likely have some data you would be interested in! Please reach out to Brett in the Psychology Department at petersb@ohio.edu and take a look at our codebooks located on this website for more information.

Collaborating with Dr. Julie Suhr and Dr. Allison Farrell, this project is supported by Ohio University. The core aim of the project is to examine how stress impacts health as couples ages. Recruitment for this study is ongoing.

HARP Study

Collaborating with Dr. Dominik Mischkowski, this project is funded by the NSF with support from OMNI. The core aim of the grant is to examine the extent to which acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol), influences conflict discussions with romantic partners.

PAIR Study

Collaborating with Dr.  Peggy Zoccola, this project was funded by the NIMH. The core aim of the grant was to better understand how social anxiety is shaped by the emotion regulation processes occurring within social interactions. Close friends were affixed to cardiovascular physiological equipment and asked to engage in a support discussion. Afterwards, they watched the recording of the conversation and rated themselves and their partners on a series of items pertaining to emotion, emotion regulation, stress, and responsiveness. After the review procedure, participants completed the Trier Social Stress test. Saliva samples were collected during the lab visit and throughout the week after their visit.
